As
to history, over the centuries Sicily had been invaded and conquered
by many different civilizations each of which left a distinctive
mark on the land and on its culinary traditions. As a result of
this grat intermingling, we can find traces of the different populations
in the ingredients and dishes which, over the years have been enriched
and enhanced by Sicilian creativity. Today the Sicilian cuisine
is considered the most famous and prestigious of Italy.
SICILY:
RICH OF GRAIN AND OLIVE-GROVE
The food preferred by the Sicilians is really the pasta. Among the
most typical dishes we remember the macaronies with the cuttlefishes,
the macaronies or the spaghetti with the Sardinians, with the fennel,
grape, pinoli and saffron; the pasta with anchovies, spicy pepper
and crumb of bread. The most famous appetizers are: the arancines,

of cheese.
SWEETS
Sicily is famous for the “Cassata” with chocolate, candied
fruit, sugar and liqueur Maraschino and studded with compositions
of fruit; the Cannoli with ricotta. The nougat with the almonds;
the marzipan; the pasta martorana with almonds. Sicily is famous
for the ice cream and granulates, with coffee or with lemon.
